”Tänä vuonna tulee kuluneeksi kolmekymmentä vuotta siitä kun viime vuosikymmenten eräs vaikutusvaltaisimmista nationalistisista traktaateista, englantilaisen Derek Hollandin The Political Soldier. A Statement (1984) näki päivänvalon. Sen kunniaksi pamfletti julkaistaan uusien sukupolvien insipiraatioksi nyt ensi kertaa suomeksi omana erillisena paperisena julkaisuna.”
”In my political outlook, I’m nationalist. In my social outlook, I’m socialist. In my religious outlook, I’m completely theist. That I am! I’m not a communist, not at all satellite of any other ”-ism” in the world. I’m just pro-Indonesia. I’ll fight and work and sacrifice myself for this Indonesian people, this Indonesian fatherland of mine.”
”18-year-old orphan volunteer laid his chest on a grenade…
By his death he gave life to two combat comrades. Wanted to protect native Ukraine…
To Andriy Snitko from Manevytskyi region Lord gave only 18 years of life. It was not easy. At 11 he became a full orphan. Andriy did not experience a lot, including falling in love, but most of all he loved his land, for which he gave life, having died heroically in battle with the Russian invaders in Ilovaysk of the Donetsk region.
Andriy Snitko was born in the village Horaymivka of the Manevytskyi region. His mother brought up him alone. She gave birth without husband. When Andriy was 11 and finished the fourth form, his mother contracted some strange disease. She stayed for some time in the hospital in a coma… and died. Woman of the tragic fate from Manevychi Raisa Halyk adopted the boy. Her happy life with her husband was short-lived. Together they gave birth to a couple of kids. But husband died just when an older daughter went to school. Raisa Mykolayivna again created a family with a man who was bringing up two children alone himself. However, he died suddenly, too. All her unspent love woman directed towards children. Now there were four of them. Woman arrenged the custody also of two children of her second husband, having created a foster family. When she heard that in Horaymivka Andriy became a full orphan, she immediately adopted him, too. As the chief of the child service of Manevychi district administration Natalia Skorokhod said, Raisa Halyk has never made a difference between native and adopted children. All were well-attended and received love and everything you need for a decent development.
So Andriy Snitko with his new mom calmly finished school and entered the Eastern National University named after Lesya Ukrainka, Institute of Physical Education and Health in particular. But he has managed to study only for a few months. Andriy was an active participant of Euromaidan. A lot of time was spent in Kyiv. Guy was fascinated with the patriotic ideas. Found his associates among the classmates. One of them, Sergiy, also an orphan, almost became his brother. They did not part at Maidan and in May together came to the mobilization center of the special purpose battalion ”Azov” in Kyiv. Andriy received the callsign Khoma. Overall, this unit had three classmates of Snitko. Together they liberated from separatists Mariupol and other towns of Azov region. Khoma was fearless and always went into the battle first. And always had a cheerful disposition.
When the operation was completed, several of Volyn residents from ”Azov” went home. Were preparing to leave for vacation also Andriy with his friend Sergiy. They had to settle affairs at the university: set examination session to transfer to another course. Andriy has received permission from his commanding officer, but when he heard that was prepared a new operation to free the focal point of the terrorists – Ilovaysk city, said: ”I have to be with my friends. We will release this city, and then will go home. ”
Decisive in the life of Andriy battle took place on August 20. Prior to that for a few days the volunteer battalions were trying unsuccessfully to release Ilovaysk and suffered significant losses.
Squad of ”Azov,” to which belonged Andriy, was tasked to capture a certain sector. A dozen of soldiers was divided into three. Vanguard three headed 18-year-old Khoma. He, along with two comrades, among whom was his friend Sergiy, callsign Socrates, cleansed the house and, moving further along the street, were ambushed. Towards the fighters flew grenades.
One of them fell directly among men. At this point Andriy without hesitation laid his chest on it. A moment later there was an explosion.
Squad commander with callsign Dancer recalls how under heavy fire and a hail of grenades the fighters of ”Azov” dragged the hero into the safe place, but it was too late.
He died, having saved from death two other fighters. One of them received a shrapnel wound in his hand, and his friend Sergiy – in the leg.
On August 23 in Lutsk Cathedral Holy Trinity Cathedral was held a memorial prayer for the 18-year-old Andriy Snitko. His body directly from the frontline was delivered by the combat comrades. Among them was the closest friend of Andriy Sergiy. Despite rigorous training in ”Azov” (here all are taught not to fear death, and take it as the highest measure of love for Ukraine), the guy still could not hold back tears. Secretly, so that the commander could not see, older comrades of Khoma also rubbed their eyes.
It was impossible to look at the foster mother of Andriy. She lost consciousness several times, and finally the emergency doctors were bringing her to life.
The fighters of ”Azov” described Andriy at war and promised to return to Ilovaysk and take revenge on his killers. They also voiced the Decalogue (the Ten Commandments) of the Ukrainian nationalist.
Funeral ceremony was held with a closed coffin, because the enemy grenade, likely thrown by hand of the Russian paratroopers, torn apart body of the young Volyn resident.
After the farewell in Lutsk the coffin with Andriy’s remains was taken to Manevichi where he lived the last years. Symbolically, it was buried with honors on Independence Day, for which he gave his life. His grave – is located in a conspicuous place at the entrance to the cemetery. By the way, the command of the battalion ”Azov” decided to introduce 18-year-old Andrew Snitko to the title of Hero of Ukraine posthumously.
Manevitskyi district administration also wants to perpetuate somehow the feat of the young but great countryman. Several options are being considred. Perhaps a school or a street will be named after him.
”It is always possible to act, it is less easy to succeed. This is even more so in a revolutionary struggle, a fight to the death against an all-powerful, cunning, and experienced enemy, which onemust fight more by ideas and shrewdness than by force. It is frequent, however, to hear of the opposition of action and thought. This is to believe in the spontaneity of revolutionary action.”

”Our army, if it exists for honorable purposes only, will draw to it honorable men. It will call to it the best men of our race- men of skill and culture. It will not be recruited as so many modern nations are, from those who are industrially useless.”
“The Amiens Charter (1906) proposed to abolish ‘the wage-system and big business’. That goal has also been abandoned. When will the hammer and sickle, tools of the proletariat, be replaced by a sex toy and a TV remote-control?”
